Trip to Gettysburg Battlefield

July 18, 2008:

We traveled to Gettysburg, Pa for a chance to tour the battlefields. Arriving in the afternoon gave us a chance to visit the Visitor’s Center then ride along the Battlefield Auto tour routes before dusk. It should also be noted that it was very hot, both in the Visitor’s Center and out on the battlefields.

This was our first evening there and we were anxious to see some of the “hotspots”, take pictures and most importantly, before the park closed for the night, we were looking forward to seeing the battlefields through our Thermal Imaging Camera.

We toured Little Round Top, Devil’s Den, the Triangular Field and the Wheat Field this evening. Unfortunately, we only ran the Thermal Imaging Camera at the Wheat field. This is due to the number of tourists present and one of our team members began feeling ill.

However, we were able to take many good pictures (nearly 500 in all), and we even did an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) session at Devil’s Den.

The final result of our efforts this evening were a few unexplained pictures.

  1. Photo of what appeared to be paranormal mist.
  2. Photo of what appeared to be a ribbon of plasma or some kind of an aura radiating from the ground up, in the woods.
  3. Photo of energy streaks, red/orange in color, showing beginning and ending points. There is no visible explanation such as a reflective object.

July 19, 2008:

This was our second and final day and night in Gettysburg, so we took the time to tour downtown in the morning. It gave us a chance to see the musket balls embedded in the sides of nearly every house and building along the way. We also visited several of the museums,  antique shops, and listened to many local ghost stories.

We took a tour of the Jenny Wade house and again headed out to the battlefields. Our first stop was Sacs Bridge. With a little effort, we found it with no problem. Again, we took many pictures.

We then turned our attention to Spangler Springs, which was an adventure in itself; finding it, that is. Once we did, we captured a half dozen thermal images and approximately 40 minutes of video from the Thermal Imaging Camera.

We also were able to observe “Living History Actors” camping as a Confederate Unit. And, we spoke to a Paranormal Group from Maryland. This chance meeting allowed us to share stories and show this group our thermal imaging camera in action.

We wrapped up our evening early and had to pack for our morning journey north and home.

The final results of this evening turned up nothing else out of the ordinary.
